2K Sports announces the March 5th release of it’s annual sports franchise, Major League Baseball 2K with it’s 2K13 installment. With cover athlete and 2012 A.L. Cy Young award winner, David Price, as the cover darling this year and the return of the Perfect Game Challenege (after a season that included three perfect games) 2K13 hopes to be yet another stellar installment in the series.

Jason Argent, Vice President of marketing for 2K Sports, was elated about the return of Major League Baseball to the 2K Franchise after reaching a release deal with Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball Advanced Media.

“We’d like to thank our league partners for their support in helping us reach an agreement to bring back MLB 2K,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “We know fans are extremely passionate about the MLB 2K series and the Perfect Game Challenge.”

David Price, who posted a 20-5 record with the Tampa Bay Rays, posting a league-low ERA of 2.56, was named the cover athlete completing the back-to-back appearances of Cy Young winners as cover athletes for the 2K Franchise. Price, as expected, is jovial about his cover appearance.

“It’s a dream come true to appear on the cover of MLB 2K13,” said price in a press release from 2K Sports. “I’m looking forward to working with the 2K Sports team again, and welcoming another skilled gamer into ‘The Perfect Club.’”

With the return of the Perfect Game Challenge, 2K Sports hopes to line the pockets of some unsuspecting competitor with a million dollars. 2K has given out $3 million over the last three years since the introduction of the Perfect Game Challenge. Last year saw one of the biggest influxes of competition with the Challenge seeing over 1-million competitors and over 1000 perfect games thrown. Last year’s winner, 21-year-old Christopher Gilmore, prevailed in a eight-man tournament at the MLB Fan Cave in New York City.

MLB 2K13 will be released on March 5th, 2013, more info about updates to the, Perfect Game Challenge, general game play changes, and whether or not this edition will match it’s competitor MLB ’13, the Sony Entertainment produced, and much more graphically stunning, and generally more polished version of Major League Baseball.
